2018 Conservation on Tap
The Iron County Land and Water Conservation Department has announced its 2018 “Conservation on Tap” schedule. These events are held at The Pines in Mercer, and are also sponsored by the Iron County Lakes and River Alliance. Each program is held at 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
- June 12, 2018: Exploring Early Northwoods Conservation Traditions with historian Jim Bokern.
- July 10, 2018: Mc Dermott Lake Fish Research Project – Hear about the effects of centrarchid (bluegill, black crappie, and rock bass) removal on walleye recruitment in a northern Wisconsin lake, presented by the Wisconsin DNR and University of Wisconsin fish research team.
- August 7, 2018: What’s happening to our lakes? Dr. Noah Lottig, assistant scientist and site manager with the North Temperate Lakes Long Term Ecological Research, will discuss lake ecology and biophysical setting, climate, and changing land use over time.
