CANCELED – Gile Flowage Paddle
August 20 @ 10:30 am - 2:30 pmFree
Sorry, due to changing policies surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, this event has been canceled. We’ll try again in 2021!
Join Cathy Techtmann for a paddle on the Gile Flowage on Thursday, August 20. Techtmann is an Environmental Outreach State Specialist for the University of Wisconsin-Extension, and is well-versed in the ecology and history of the Iron County area.
The Gile Flowage is a 3,000+ acre flowage that backs up the West Fork of the Montreal River. Anglers love the Gile, particularly for its smallmouth population, and sightseers love its undeveloped shorelines and rocky outcroppings that look a bit like Canada.
Meet at Gile Park at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 20. Bring a kayak/canoe, paddle, PFD, lunch, and mask to wear at the boat landing. We’ll paddle a loop, so no shuttles will be required.
Space is limited to 8 boats, so be sure to register on the Iron County Silent Sports Meetup as soon as possible to ensure your spot.
