Pedal and Paddle on the Mercer Bike Trail and the Manitowish River, Saturday, August 24, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., sponsored by ICORE. Free program.
Paddle on an undeveloped segment of the Manitowish River from the Hwy. 51 wayside to the crossroads of Manitowish. Then bike on a portion of the paved Mercer bike trail from Manitowish to a site for lunch by the river.
What to bring: Bicycle, kayak or canoe with paddles, PFD, packed lunch, water, sunscreen.
Logistics: We’ll first drop our bikes off at 9:30 a.m. in a private yard in Manitowish, then drive to the Hwy. 51 wayside and paddle downstream to Manitowish, about an hour or so paddle. We’ll leave our boats and gear at the same private home, grab our bikes, and then pedal about 4 miles southeast on the Mercer bike trail to the relatively new bridge over the Manitowish River where we can eat lunch at the picnic tables. Then we’ll pedal back to the wayside – about 2 miles – pick up our cars, and drive back to Manitowish to get our boats. Simple!
Please visit Meetup to RSVP for this event — there is a limit of 15 participants.
