Celebrate Swamps: Iron County wetland walk

Join Ron Eckstein (retired WDNR wildlife biologist of 36 years), Tom Jerow (retired WDNR water specialist of 34 years), and Troy Walters (Northwoods Land Trust-NWLT) on Tuesday, June 18 from 9am-2:30 pm at the Sherman Town Hall for a free informative PowerPoint followed by a tour of a couple local wetlands. According to Troy Walters, NWLT Outreach Coordinator, “We’re absolutely thrilled to have Ron and Tom, board members of Wisconsin’s Green Fire: Voices for Conservation leading us on this wetland tour.” According to the WDNR, Iron County is 3rd in the state with 31.2% of the county mapped as wetlands.
Participants will be exploring local wetlands. Please come prepared with rubber boots, bug spray, and rain gear. Lunch served at Springstead Lake Lodge (on your own).
