Healthy Lakes resources
The Healthy Lakes Initiative provides resources for homeowners and DIY practices that can improve habitat and water quality on lakeshore properties. It also provides Healthy Lakes grant funding to lake associations and districts, municipalities, and tribal governments to help property owners implement these practices.
Habitat restoration and runoff and erosion control can greatly improve the quality of Wisconsin’s lakes. The Healthy Lakes Initiative website includes an implementation plan; information on best practices such as fish sticks, native plantings, runoff diversion, rock infiltration, and rain gardens; and information for those seeking Healthy Lakes grant funding.
This project is sponsored by the Wisconsin DNR and UW-Extension Lakes Project. Visit their website to learn more.
