North Country Trail – Heritage Chapter Happenings
Did you know that there is a National Park running through northern Iron County WI. Yes, the North Country National Scenic Trail (NCT) is a unit of the National Park System and is considered a national park. The NCT is the longest national trail, stretching 4,600 miles and passing through eight states.
The segment through Iron County is managed by a group of volunteers called The Heritage Chapter. The segment through Iron County is work in progress. The Heritage Chapter is having one work weekend each month startingA in May and the last one in November. There are also hikes planned on the trail; the first is scheduled for June 1. The hikes are sponsored jointly by The Heritage Chapter and ICORE.
