Volunteers Needed!

The Turtle Flambeau Flowage, the best fishing in all of Wisconsin, is in danger of being overtaken by an Invasive species called Curly Leaf Pondweed.  The Rice Lake Association needs your help to prevent this. We are organizing “Weed Pull 2022” during the first two weeks of June.  Volunteers are needed to make this a success. Working 2 to a boat you will pull this weed up by the roots and load it on boats to be transported to shore and then to a landfill.  This is not just a local problem!   Allowed to go unchecked, Curly Leaf Pondweed will change the environment of the Turtle River
Watershed from Wisconsin’s Northwoods to the Turtle Flambeau Flowage then on to the Mississippi river and beyond. We consider this a moral imperative for the future of our waters, but we can’t do it alone.

Protecting our environment and the future of our waterways is probably foremost on the minds of everyone who lives in the Northwoods. We believe you are the folks that will see the importance of this battle we are in and join our ranks.  There are multiple ways you or your lake association can help.  Please consider volunteering for some or all of this nine(9) day effort. We anticipate needing 20 people each day for removal along with support for volunteer meals.
