Happy Wanderers hike WinMan from Papoose Lake Road trailhead.

Tomorrow we are expecting another warm spring day, followed by dropping temperatures and a possible snowstorm, so Wednesday we will walk on the WinMan trails. Only time will tell if we really get to wear snowshoes, or the hiking is better in boots. With rapidly rising temperatures the rest of the week, I’m not worried about punching the snow with our boots, but if we really do get 3+ inches of snow, it will be easier walking with your snowshoes. You might want to bring them along, just in case we can actually use them! Please be flexible and use your own judgement.

We will meet at the trailhead on Papoose Lake Road at 10 am. To get there from Mercer, take County J east to the end of Cty J. Turn right onto County W and go 0.9 miles. Turn left on Papoose Lake Road and go about 1/2 mile to the parking lot on your left. There will be a carpool from Carow Park, leaving at 9:35 pm. That should give us plenty of time, even if the snowstorm hasn’t quite ended. Do please wear enough layers to be warm. It is going to be lots colder on Wednesday than it will be Tuesday. Also WinMan is dependent on donations. Suggested donation is $15 per day.
