ICORE Annual Meeting Tuesday October 15

ICORE invites you to join us for an evening you are sure to enjoy! We will start the evening out with our general meeting with updates on ICORE’s organization and its events and projects. Following the general meeting agenda we will have a Potluck Dinner with a Prentation by Jim Bokern on the fascinating history of Mercer’s CCC Camp. If you have heard Jim speak before, you know he is an awesome historian putting historical events to life with his story telling style!

Along the banks of the Manitowish River on June 21, 1933, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) established 660th Company S-79, or Camp Mercer.[i] Driven by a sense of urgency to provide relief, recovery and reform to end suffering created by the Great Depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) launched the CCC in the New Deal’s famous “First 100 days.”
