ICORE Birding Hike & Paddle Event
Details: Participants will hike 1 to 2 miles on the Deadhorse Grouse Trails within the Turtle Flambeau Scenic Waters Area. Then the participants would paddle about a mile on the Little Turtle River back to the starting point. John Bates will lead the group while they discover birds, and other wonders of nature found along the journey.
Date: Friday, May 16th
Time: 7:30 am until 12 pm
Number of participants: 12 (participants will be required to sign up using ICORES Meetup site) If there are more than 12 participants we will divide the group into smaller groups.
Hiking/Paddling schedule
7:30 am Participants would drop of kayaks or canoes at drop off site. ICORE volunteers will transport kayaks/canoes via boat trailers or pickup trucks to the launch site on the Little Turtle river.
8:00 am Participants would park their vehicles near the confluence of the Turtle Flambeau Flowage and the Little Turtle River.
Starting at the parking area participants would hike 1 to 2 miles through the Deadhorse Grouse trails to the boat launch.
The group would continue birding activities while paddling the Little Turtle Rivier back to the vehicle parking area.

PARTICIPANTS ARE INVITED TO A POTLUCK AFTERWARDS:
- Martha Pierpont will provide brats, hotdogs, buns, and condiments.
- Bring a dish to pass, a chair, and a beverage of your choosing.
- Directions to Martha’s home will be given at the conclusion of paddle.
- If your spouse/companion is unable to walk or paddle due to physical limitations, talk to Martha about dropping them off at her house during the physical activity. Email Martha at pierponm@hotmail.com.
